Park Ave Apartment Renovation Located in a historic building on the Upper East Side, Manhattan, this eight-room prewar apartment was renovated to balance the gothic grandeur or its surroundings with a fun element, appropriate for the young family that resided there.

A large entrance foyer was decorated to showcase the clients’ floral arrangements of Ikebana - the Japanese art of floral arranging. Leading off the foyer is a grand living room with a fireplace. The artwork and organic forms of the furniture are accentuated against painted white walls. A formal dining room is located on the other side of the foyer with large windows that overlook the interior courtyard. The existing kitchen was extended to accommodate a new eat in area. The entry way into the kitchen was converted to a wet bar area. The material palette of brass, mirrors, black slate and green lacquer contrasts with the neutral black and white tones of the main kitchen area. The apartment includes three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. The primary bedroom area was reorganized to include a walk-in closet space.
